Thomson Corp has lowered the sale price on the Winnipeg Free Press and at press time a few groups had come through to look, but had not purchased the paper.
CanWest Global Communications brought Southam executives through the building to view the operation. The delegation included former Freep circulation director Craig Barnard, on hand, no doubt, to interpret fuzzy circulation figures. -- Another group was led by Ron Stern, a former Winnipegger who has an interest in Western Glove. Stern also heads up the Alberta Newsprint Company, and has money in OntarioÕs St. MaryÕs paper, as well as interests across Canada and in the United States.
