NAYLOR NEWS

Vacation Update -
The union received some complaints from members about their vacation entitlements, and as a result minor errors were corrected. However, we were unable to obtain more extensive information from any members that could defend the Union's position that the entitlements had been applied incorrectly over each person's tenure with the company. As a result, the grievance has been withdrawn on a without-prejudice basis. - Posted November 30, 2011

Please find attached a Fact Sheet from the Manitoba government that outlines the responsibilities of the parties in the event of termination of employment.  While it is an employee's responsibility to give two weeks notice of termination (with over one year of employment), and one week notice for those who have been employed for less than a year, the employer is not allowed to hold back any wages if the employee fails to give the proper notice. - Posted February 17, 2011

The following document was forwarded confidentially to the Union.  We have been advised by Naylor that it is an "Aequor document".  As you can see, it appears to contain details that the management teams of Naylor Canada/Aequor Corp. have kept secret from the Union and the unionized staff.  Naylor has told us that Naylor's printing and bindery work has been transferred to Aequor.  Naylor has also told us that the sales functions at Naylor have been retained and that there is absolutely no plan to transfer those functions to India or anywhere out of Winnipeg.  We think it is important to share the information that we get with our members who are potentially affected.  Have we misunderstood the meaning of the words "Train India-based employees" in relation to printing and sales?  The names of those currently slated for lay-off have been blacked out to protect their privacy.
